Nippon Shokubai’s AQUALIC L Series Acrylic Acid-Based Water-Soluble Polymers Meet a Variety of Applications

Nippon Shokubai’s AQUALIC L Series of acrylic acid-based water-soluble polymers are designed with proprietary technology. These acrylic acid derivatives are suitable for a variety of applications including detergents, water treatment, paper production, textiles, civil engineering and construction. In addition to these applications, Nippon Shokubai’s expertise allows for polymer development, allowing us to manufacture to specific customer requirements.

Our integrated production process, from raw material monomers to finished AQUALIC L, ensures we deliver high-volume, stable products at competitive prices.

The AQUALIC L product line can be used as a chelating agent for metal ions, a scale inhibitor and a detergent builder. Through electrostatic repulsion, AQUALIC L Series products also feature dispersive power for calcium carbonate, kaolin, clay and latex. For easy handling and use, AQUALIC L is non-hazardous and features a low toxicity.

These water-soluble polymers are available in a wide variety of types, allowing customers to select the right standard product for their application. But if a customer has different requirements, we will develop polymers according to their specifications with modifications to molecular weight, monomer combinations, monomer-to-monomer ratios and more.

The wide range of applications suitable for AQUALIC L include:

Paper Production

AQUALIC L is used in coated paper applications to disperse pigment. When coating paper with pigment, this polymer can adjust the rheology of coating formulation by preventing particle aggregation and maintain a stable dispersion over time.

Detergent

AQUALIC L is useful in detergent applications such as powder and liquid laundry detergent as well as automatic dish washer detergents. AQUALIC L also can be used in industrial detergent.

Water Treatment

AQUALIC L is used as a scale inhibitor in boilers and cooling towers.

Textiles

The chelating performance and anti-redeposition ability of AQUALIC L is useful in textile treatment for scouring and bleaching.

Additional applications for AQUALIC L include:

  • Paint pigment dispersion
  • Potter’s clay dispersion
